Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE …
enough money within her control to move out
and rent a place of her own,
even if she never wants to or needs to…
something perfect to wear if the employer,
or date of her dreams wants to see her in an hour…
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ..
a youth she’s content to leave behind….
a past juicy enough that she’s looking forward to
retelling it in her old age….
a set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill, and a black lace bra…
one friend who always makes her laugh… and one who lets her cry…
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE …….
a good piece of furniture not previously owned by anyone else in her family…
eight matching plates, wine glasses with stems,
and a recipe for a meal,
that will make her guests feel honored…
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ..
a feeling of control over her destiny…..
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
how to fall in love without losing herself..
how to quit a job,
break up with a lover,
and confront a friend without
ruining the friendship….
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW….
when to try harder… and WHEN TO WALK AWAY…
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
that she can’t change the length of her calves,
the width of her hips, or the nature of her parents..
that her childhood may not have been perfect…but it’s over…
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
what she would and wouldn’t do for love or more…..
how to live alone… even if she doesn’t like it…
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW.. .
whom she can trust,
whom she can’t,
and why she shouldn’t take it personally…
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
where to go…
be it to her best friend’s kitchen table..
or a charming Inn in the woods…
when her soul needs soothing…
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
What she can and can’t accomplish in a day…
a month…and a year…

Well, I DID get to wash my hair this past Friday and felt like doing a bit of an early length check. I know I said before that I’d check this in March but figured, “what’s a couple weeks earlier?” I did my normal cowash and skipped the herbs due to lack of time, and finally did a rod set. I guess I’ll do the herbs this weekend, when I wash again. I have such a huge fro and it’s a bit frustrating to wash but I think I’m a bit used to this craziness by now. I tried the new conditioner (Matrix Curl.Life) that I swapped at the mixer and was so not thrilled with it at all. I see why the person who brought it in was ready to get rid of it! It’s safe to say that will be the 1st and last time I use it because it was like I was washing with water -_- no moisturization (not a word I’m sure) in the least bit! I will be hacking off an inch or two soon but my estimated length-to-date is 14 inches total and 9 inches in new growth. (I will have to verify it again, when I wash this weekend to be sure) I am glad to have been able to retain my actual new growth, thanks to my relaxed ends getting the bulk of the hacking. My rod set was super thick and I actually picked out the roots to get a bigger and messier look. Still not sure about the center parts until it gets a little longer. I feel like I get a Larry from the 3 Stooges look (minus the balding), when I do the center parts o_O not what’s hot! I will do another rod set with my larger rods and see how I like that for more body and bigger curls. It just takes so much arm power to wash that by the time I get to styling it, I get lazy and opt for the twist and curl. If I could figure out how to get my curls to stretch more when I do these sets, I’d be thrilled but that shrinkage is not letting up anytime soon!

If you were one of those people who are affected by someone thinking of you, you would have woken up with a start in the middle of the night; reading in bed in the morning the lines would have become blurred; at breakfast your eyes would have strayed beyond your coca and rolls, and even beyond your mother; the orchids you were taking to a new apartment would have petrified in your hand, and only now…would you be left in peace, for now I am not thinking of you, rather I am with you.

The most important thing in all human relationships is conversation, but people don’t talk anymore, they don’t sit down to talk and listen. They go to the theater, the cinema, watch television, listen to the radio, read books, but they almost never talk. If we want to change the world, we have to go back to a time when warriors would gather around a fire and tell stories.

A frank post on Christians, blogging, and any tangents that I may go off on.
I took a couple of months off of Tumblr out of the blue. I’m opening with this only to let you guys see where this is coming from.
And here is what I discovered.
We let ourselves become consumed with petty things.
Tumblr is a great ministry tool. I’ve been blessed to meet friends through Tumblr, be prayed over through Tumblr, and I’ve formed an amazing support system here.
Still, Tumblr can be a great distraction. I am afraid that we allow ourselves to become immersed in this web culture and convince ourselves that reblogging artistic pictures overlayed with Scripture and typing up a spiritual post every once in a while is enough.
I don’t care how great your blog is, how many followers you have, or how Godly your posts sound. Can I just be real for a second because this applies to me as much as it applies to anyone else?
Nothing can replace your time with God. Not writing about Him, not posting pictures about Him, not even answering questions about Him. There’s nothing wrong with any of this - trust me. It’s completely beneficial.
But please, beloved. If this website - or any other website - ever becomes your focus, take a step back as I did and, for the love of God, remember what’s important. You’ll only reap the benefits of a prayer-filled life if you are in prayer. You’ll only reap the benefits of a Scripture focused life if you are constantly focused on Scripture.
This is real life. Wake up! The only way to beat the flesh is to immerse yourself in Him, not a cheap imitation. Please, take heed to what I am saying.
“Blogging about God is not the same as spending time with God. Don’t confuse the two.” Jon Acuff, Stuff Christians LikeAMEN.
